BULLETS TO BUDS: FROM GUN SHOP TO CANNABIS HAVEN IN HISTORIC CLOVIS IN NEW MEXICO

Earl Henson and Tom Schoneman, the dynamic duo behind Earl and Tom’s Cannabis Dispensary/Grow/Manufacturing, embarked on their journey with a dream of crafting pipes in 2019. As fate would have it, that dream blossomed into reality, paving the way for their next venture in 2020—enter the realm of cannabis cultivation amid the looming promise of recreational legalization.

In the true spirit of aficionados, Earl and Tom initially aspired to cultivate the finest cannabis strictly for personal enjoyment. However, their passion evolved, and a plan was hatched to deliver the epitome of cannabis excellence to the residents of New Mexico.

Why Clovis, you might ask? The decision to set roots in Clovis was a carefully considered one. Perhaps influenced by Earl's sentimental ties—his daughter attending school at Texas Tech—or his intimate knowledge of the Clovis area and Texas panhandle, having grown up there. Clovis, with its charming community, quickly became the canvas for their ambitious plans. As regulatory hurdles were navigated, the first of many strategic property acquisitions unfolded.

Their inaugural purchase, a spacious metal building in Historic Downtown Clovis, served as the canvas for their initial cultivation endeavors. Coincidentally, this building once housed the original VFW in Clovis, adding a touch of history to their venture. Yet, fate intervened once more when a chance encounter with Larry Reeves, a former FBI agent and the previous owner of R & S gun shop, led to the acquisition of his old gun shop. The vision: transform the erstwhile retail gun shop into a cannabis haven, aptly named Bullets to Buds. The former shooting range now stands as grow rooms, nurturing what Earl and Tom proudly proclaim as the state's finest cannabis.

Expanding their footprint, they acquired the Prairie Peddler on Main and 1st Street, formerly the Clayton Creamery in the early 1900s. The antique shop is earmarked for future growth, leaving the possibilities wide open.
